ESI - Erasmus

Our students are given the opportunity take part in the Erasmus program or in the Erasmus Belgica program during the last semester of their cursus instead of doing the work placement in the French-speaking community of Belgium.

They can choose a “mobility for placement”. The Erasmus or Erasmus Belgica work placement is organized nearly like the work placement in the French-speaking part of Belgium.

The host organization provides a mentor and our College (sending institution) provides a teacher-referee. The details of the proposed training program abroad are:

length: 15 weeks (approximately from beginning of February till end of May)
knowledge, skills and competence to be developed from a good background acquired at our college: autonomy and personal initiative, social and communication skills, ability to learn by themselves new technical knowledge, any (new or known) knowledge and skills useful for an analyst-programmer
detailed programme of the training period: project(s) enabling the student to evolve full-time as an analyst-programmer
tasks of the trainee: understand how the organization and the human environment work, develop either one big project or some little ones which could be useful for the organization
monitoring and evaluation plan: monitoring by the coordinator of internships at the sending institution, the mentor of the host organization and the teacher-referee of the sending institution / evaluation plan in five parts (overall mark divided into the administrative and organisational aspects assessed by the coordinator of internships + the work in the host organization assessed by the mentor + a report assessed by the teacher-referee and the mentor + an English presentation assessed by the teacher-referee and the mentor + a French presentation assessed by a jury that include the coordinator of internships, the teacher-referee and the mentor if he(she) is in Brussels)

In order to realize those work placements, our College has created contacts especially with host organizations in Scotland and in the Dutch-speaking community of Belgium. Our alumni can provide other contacts in Europe. For our students, it’s a very nice opportunity to broaden their knowledge in English or Dutch. It can also be a great way to discover or practice other European languages.

Our students can eventually choose a “mobility for studies”. For that kind of mobility, our College is working on Erasmus exchange with the following institutions:

Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille (IUT A) in France
North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (NEWI) in Wrexham (UK)
Syddansk Universitet (University of Southern Denmark)
Technological Educational Institution (TEI) of Chalkis in Greece

We are also a partner of the Erasmushogeschool Brussel (Ehb) within the framework of the Erasmus Belgica program between the three linguistic communities in Belgium.

Within the framework of those Erasmus or Erasmus Belgica exchanges, our institution monitors and evaluates the training period of the incoming students (placement follow-up, report marking and oral presentation which can be done in English). And the partner institution does the same for our own students.
